Triple Berry Antioxidant Smoothie

IMG_2387.jpeg

This energizing smoothie is loaded up with fiber, vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, and theobromine, a phytochemical found in cacao that boosts energy and mood, which I'm sure we can all use on a busy weekday morning!

Cinnamon, spinach, berries, and cacao provide a hefty dose of free radical-fighting antioxidant power along with lots of flavor. Berries are one of the lowest-sugar and highest-fiber fruits that you can consume, and frozen cauliflower (although it may sound odd to add to a smoothie) provides bulk and a creamy texture. Think of it as a more nutritious and substantiative substitute for ice!

With protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs, this smoothie can serve as a balanced meal or snack depending on your nutritional needs.

Ingredients (yields 1 serving):

  • 1 cup fresh spinach

  • 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower rice

  • 1/4 of a frozen banana

  • 2 Tbsp frozen cranberries (unsweetened)

  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1/4 cup frozen raspberries

  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened cacao powder

  • 1 scoop Nuzest Vanilla Protein (or protein of choice)

  • 1 Tbsp almond butter

  • Sprinkle of cinnamon

  • Enough unsweetened milk of choice to blend (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)

Toppings:

  • Unsweetened cacao nibs

Blend, top, and enjoy!
